Discussion: More on Processing Times and Seasonal Backlogs

Following up on our earlier discussions about timelines, I wanted to address how seasonal backlogs can affect the "standard" processing times we’ve come to expect. We know that 3-5 days is normal, but what happens during major holidays or after a big site promotion? I wanted to start a discussion about how to plan your orders during these busy periods. Let’s talk about seasonal delays. How do we plan ahead?

First off, plan for an extra 5-7 days of processing during the peak seasons. This includes the run-up to the summer months and the end-of-year holidays. Vendors are often flooded with orders during these times, and even the most efficient shops will experience some delays. Let’s talk about realistic expectations during the "busy" months. How do we stay ahead?

Tips for Ordering During Peak Seasons

  • Order Early: If you know you need a card for a specific event in July, don’t wait until June to place your order. Give yourself at least a 4-week window.
  • Check for Site Announcements: Reputable vendors will often post a "current turnaround time" on their homepage if they are experiencing unusual backlogs.
  • Avoid Last-Minute Rush Orders: While "rush" processing might help a bit, it’s still better to just order early and avoid the extra cost and stress.

I’ve found that ordering in the early spring or fall is usually the fastest. Turnaround times are consistently shorter and customer service is much more responsive. What are your "best times to order"? Have you noticed any specific vendors who handle seasonal backlogs particularly well? Let’s share our "timing" tips and help everyone plan more effectively.
