Novelty ID Card Canada Review: Ontario (ON) "Scratch Test" and Longevity (Part 3)

Following up on our earlier discussions about card durability, I wanted to focus on how the Ontario (ON) design holds up after several months of "real-world" use. We know the lamination is tough, but how do the colors and security features look after being pulled in and out of a wallet hundreds of times? I decided to put my current ON card to a long-term longevity test. Let’s talk about material science. How do they stay looking fresh?

First off, the abrasion resistance on this card is exceptional. Even after three months of daily use, the surface remains slick and mostly free of scratches. The background patterns are still perfectly clear, and the holograms haven’t lost any of their "pop." Let’s talk about the details. How does it handle the wear?

Why Ontario (ON) Material Quality is Top-Tier

  • Hardened Outer Layer: The top lamination film is clearly a higher-grade material than what you find on budget IDs. it resists "clouding" and surface wear beautifully.
  • Fused Polycarbonate Stability: The card remains perfectly flat and hasn’t shown any signs of warping or edge-peeling, even after being kept in a tight pocket.
  • Ink Durability: The background colors are still vibrant and haven’t faded or shifted, showing that the vendor is using high-quality calibrated inks.

I’ve been incredibly impressed with the long-term durability of this Ontario card. It truly feels like a piece of high-end government work. Have any of you noticed any "wear-and-tear" issues on your older Canadian IDs? Let’s share our preservation secrets and help everyone find the most durable cards!
