First off, you don’t need a professional camera. Most modern smartphones have a decent "macro" mode if you know how to use it. The key is to get plenty of light and keep the camera as steady as possible. A simple smartphone tripod and a bright desk lamp can make a huge difference in the clarity of your "detail" shots. Tips for Great ID Macro Photos
- Use plenty of Light: Use a bright LED desk lamp to illuminate the card. Move the light around until you can see the microprint or holographic detail clearly without glare.
- Steady Your Phone: If you don’t have a tripod, prop your phone up on a stack of books or lean your hands against a solid surface to avoid camera shake.
- Focus Manually: Tap the screen to set the focus directly on the feature you want to show (like the microprint line or the OVI shift).
