Discussion: Are More Rush Order Options Actually Worth the Extra Cost Lately?
Following up on our earlier discussions about rush orders, I wanted to start a fresh thread to see what the current market is like for "priority processing." We know that vendors promise to move your order to the front of the line, but is it actually saving people time? Or is the backlog so big that "rush" still takes two weeks? Let’s talk about rush order reliability. How do we get our cards fast?
In my experience, "rush" usually only applies to the production stage. It doesn’t necessarily mean the shipping will be faster. If a vendor has a 5-day backlog, a rush order might get your card made in 24 hours. But once it’s in the mail, it’s at the mercy of the courier. Let’s talk about the trade-offs. Is it worth the money?
What to Consider Before Paying for Rush Processing
- Current Backlog: Check the vendor’s site or recent reviews to see what their standard turnaround is. If it’s already fast, "rush" might not be worth it.
- Shipping Method: If you’re paying for rush production but using standard shipping, you’re still going to be waiting. spend that extra money on *faster shipping* instead.
- Quality Risk: While rare, there is always a tiny risk that a "rushed" card might not get the same level of final inspection.
I’ve used rush options twice recently and both times the cards arrived about 3-4 days sooner than usual. For me, it was worth it.
