Discussion: More on UV Feature Quality and Professional Verification Trends
Following up on our earlier discussions about UV features, I wanted to address some of the more "professional" trends we’re seeing in how official IDs are verified. We know that a simple blacklight is a good start, but as security technology advances, what new UV features should we be looking for in our novelty orders? I wanted to start a discussion about the future of UV security. How do we stay ahead?
First off, multi-wavelength UV features are becoming the standard. Many newer IDs have images that only react to specific narrow bands of UV light (like 254nm or 313nm). While these are harder for the average person to check, top-tier vendors are already implementing these features to pass even the most advanced professional scanners. Let’s talk about the technical side. How do we stay pro-ready?
What to Look for in Modern UV Features
- Multi-Spectral Reaction: Does the UV feature react differently under different wavelengths of light? This is a sign of a very high-end production process.
- Invisible Microprint: Some states are now weaving microprint *into* the UV images. This is an incredibly difficult feature to replicate and a major indicator of quality.
- Integrated Design: The UV images should be perfectly integrated with the printed design on the card, showing no signs of mis-alignment or "overprinting."
